Rolling, always-current summaries of chats, each driven by a named standing question ("summarize", "what opportunities appeared?", "any complaints?"). A digest covers either All chats (org-wide: every chat the org's AI read scope allows, including chats that start later) or a chosen list of up to 25 chats and groups. In the app, Settings > Digests has a "New digest" button where you pick All chats or Choose chats (a searchable picker of chats and groups, up to 25), and a chat's side panel creates a digest for that one chat ("Ask another question"). Each digest in Settings > Digests has an "All chats" switch and a "Member chats" editor to add or remove chats (same picker, same 25 cap); saving a scope change rebuilds the digest from its new chats. More than 25 specific chats is not possible; use All chats instead. A chat can carry any number of digests. Each digest keeps an evidence-backed answer that folds in only new messages on refresh, periodically rebuilds from scratch, respects the org's AI read scope, shows how many messages were analyzed and how many were cited for claims (with each citation resolvable to its exact message), and shows a token cost estimate (as a range, following current activity) before you create it or save a scope change. Next to that estimate the app shows about how many messages a month the digest will analyze. One refresh reads at most 500 messages plus up to 100 voice notes that are not transcribed yet. An ordinary refresh reads the unread messages after the last one it read, oldest first; a periodic rebuild reads the newest 500 messages in the digest's lookback window (1 to 90 days, 7 by default) and leaves the older ones in that window unread. The digest says what it read, for example "Read 500 of 3,214 messages from the last 7 days", and, when more unread messages are waiting, how many the next refresh will read. If a message the answer cited is hidden later, the answer is withheld until the digest is refreshed, which rebuilds it without that message. When the chosen chats get more messages than that, the app says how many arrive a month and that the digest runs behind the newest messages and some are never read; a bigger plan does not change this, choosing fewer chats does. Digests name voice notes and their length, and a voice note that is not transcribed yet still counts, marked as not transcribed. Digests can opt into the Daily Summary as sections, refresh on demand or on a daily schedule, and keep version history you can roll back. A digest on a daily schedule is a running workflow and occupies one of your plan's workflow slots, shared with active group monitors, check-in rules and bot trigger rules; a digest refreshed on demand takes no slot, pausing a scheduled digest frees its slot, and when every slot is in use a new scheduled digest is refused with a notice to pause one or upgrade. Connected AI apps (the Spun MCP surface, e.g. claude.ai) can list a workspace's standing questions with list_chat_summaries, read a digest's stored answer with get_chat_summary (both ride the ordinary conversation-read permission and never spend tokens), define new standing questions with define_chat_summary (scope "all_chats" or "chats" with up to 25 chat ids), and edit an existing one (rename, change the question, switch between all chats and chosen chats, change member chats, schedule, language, or daily-summary inclusion; pause and resume) with update_chat_summary. Both writes report the scope and the estimate, live under the dedicated "Define Chat Digests" key scope, and can trigger a background rebuild that spends the org's AI budget. System-managed digests such as the daily recap can be listed and read but not edited over MCP. Period reports have six MCP tools: list_period_reports, get_period_report, get_period_report_run and get_period_report_evidence read them under the ordinary conversation-read permission (one call however many messages a report covers), and start_period_report and cancel_period_report_run start or stop a build under the "Define Chat Digests" permission plus AI compute, because a build spends the org's AI credit. A digest reads the messages in the chats it covers, so the chats selected decide the cost, and a broad daily digest over a set of chats costs less than several narrow ones over the same chats. To choose between a digest, Weave, Connected AI (Spun MCP), Group Intelligence and the MCP Dashboard, see Choosing the Right AI Tool (docs.spun.com/concepts/choosing-ai-tools). Period reports are available to every workspace. Settings > Digests also shows a "New period report" button: pick a template (Executive daily report, Bookings and requests, Complaints and quality issues, Open requests) or Blank (free-text questions get evidence and narrative; totals need a template), then choose the chats, the period (each morning cover yesterday in your timezone, or when you ask, for a day or a date range that has already ended; "Keep a rolling answer" continues in the regular digest editor). A period report reads every message in its period. Before saving, the editor shows the cost in dollars for the next report and up to the end of the period, next to your available credit, turns amber or red when the credit or the spending limit of the report may not cover it, and offers "Add credit" and "Adjust spending limit". Optional settings split the report into sections by label or Contact Circle, set its language and set a spending limit per report. The Executive daily report says who on the team answered what, so it needs staff contacts labelled first; until then the editor links to Contacts. Staff are recognized from the contacts that carry a staff label (a label named Employees, Staff or Team members, in English, Hebrew or Arabic, or the organization name followed by "team") by phone number, plus messages sent from the connected number itself; the report's Staff section lists each recognized employee with the number of items credited to them, busiest first. A group member whose number WhatsApp hides (a hidden member, shown by display name only) is read and counted but not credited until a person links that member's direct chat to the employee contact with "Link this chat to a contact" in the chat's side panel; from the next report their messages count as theirs. The employee can instead allow your contacts to see their phone number in WhatsApp privacy settings, so WhatsApp shows the real number in groups. A period report saved on the "each morning" schedule runs every morning for the day before. Each period report has a card in Settings > Digests with the last complete period, the latest attempt and its status, a coverage line (for example "Analyzed 1,840 of 1,840 readable messages across 12 chats", plus how many voice or media messages without text were not read), what the last report cost, about what the reports until the end of the billing month will cost, and when the next one runs. The card offers at most one action: Continue after a report stopped part way (it builds the whole period again and is charged again), Add credit when it stopped at your credit or spending limit, or Refresh sources when messages in the period changed after the report was built. Open report shows what needs attention first (no reply visible, cancelled, details that disagree, possible duplicates), then the totals and the sections. Items that share a booking reference are merged into one; items without a reference are listed as possible duplicates when they look like the same request (the same wording within one chat, or the same wording and the same room, night and guest numbers across chats, such as one request forwarded to several hotel groups), counted in their own total and never merged, so you decide. Every number has a "Why this number?" link to the items behind it, grouped by section, and each item opens the messages it came from. Instead of a confidence score the report says what it cannot see: "No reply visible in monitored chats" (a reply by phone or in another chat is not seen), "Section unclear", and "No transcript" for voice or media without text. A partial report is labelled as partial and links to the last complete report; a revised report says when and why it was revised and lists the versions of that period. A revision publishes a new version only when something the reader saw changes: a total, an item's status, a new urgent item, or a Staff section that was missing. A teammate who cannot read every chat a report covers sees that it is withheld and who to ask.

How to use

  1. Open Settings > Digests and click "New digest".
  2. Type a standing question (or leave it empty for a general summary), then choose All chats (org-wide) or Choose chats and tick up to 25 chats or groups.
  3. Review the estimated token cost and about how many messages a month it will analyze, then create.
  4. For a single chat, open the chat's side panel, find the Digests card and click "Ask another question".
  5. To change which chats a digest reads, open it in Settings > Digests and use the "All chats" switch or the "Member chats" editor, check the new estimate, and save.
  6. Open a digest any time to read the stored answer free of charge, or press Refresh to update it; manage edit, rebuild, pause, versions and delete in Settings > Digests.
  7. Tick "Include in daily summary" on a digest to receive it as a section of your morning Daily Summary.
  8. A connected AI app with the right permissions can list standing questions, read a stored answer, define a new one for all chats or chosen chats, or edit/pause an existing one directly.
  9. Period reports: in Settings > Digests click "New period report", pick a template or Blank, choose the chats and the period, check the cost in dollars against your available credit, and save.
  10. To read a period report, open its card in Settings > Digests and click "Open report"; press "Why this number?" next to any number to see the items and messages behind it.
